Apple-trees of the Aport variety: description and features of cultivation


Recent genetic studies of the Aport cultivar have been conducted by British pomologists. Based on the data obtained, it was possible to establish that representatives of this variety are descendants of the wild Sivers apple tree.

Variety of apple trees "Aport" is the oldest in the world. However, the history of the development of the variety and its origin still cause a huge amount of controversy. Most pomologists believe that this variety of apple trees is of Ukrainian origin.

Grade description

Apple trees of the Aport variety are very tall trees with a very massive crown. Its diameter can exceed twelve meters.

The variety "Aport" does not take root on dwarf rootstocks. The best option is to use the Sivers apple tree as a stock, which is a frost-resistant wild game with fairly sweet fruits. As a rule, “Aport” varieties are planted for sale on mid-root stocks of the MM-106 type.

Trees enter the fruiting stage six years after planting. The first crop is characterized by a very large size of apples. The mass of one fruit can reach six hundred grams. In the future, the fruit size indicators stabilize, and subject to agrotechnical requirements, the average weight of one Aport apple varies from 200 to 300 grams.

Apportion apples have a pronounced fresh aroma. The stage of technical ripeness of fruits is characterized by a high degree of juiciness of apples.

When biting ripe fruit, a characteristic crack is heard. The pulp of apples has a white-green color. The peel is dense and has a greenish-red or red color. The fruits of the Aport variety have a characteristic waxy coating that perfectly protects apples from adverse external influences.

Clones and Hybrids

Apple trees "Aport" cultivated for a long time, which could not but affect the use of varieties in amateur breeding and hybridization of fruit plants. Currently, the following species obtained as a result of cloning and variety formation are most widely used:

  1. "Aport of Alexandria", or "Kaiser Alexander". The fruits of this variety are characterized by peculiar taste indices with the presence of pronounced acidity. Peel on green apples with red bulk on a sunny side.
  2. "Aport Blood Red." The fruits of this variety have a sweeter taste than the above. The main color of the skin is bright red and uniform throughout the area of ​​the fetus.
  3. "Zailiysky Aport". The fruits of this variety are the sweetest of all representatives of the Aport variety. Ripe apples are characterized by average sizes. The standard weight of one fruit does not exceed two hundred grams. A feature of the variety is the presence in the region of the peduncle of a characteristic net. The skin of the fetus is yellow with red stripes.

There are other, no less remarkable varieties and hybrids derived from the Aport variety. However, it is these varieties that deserve the greatest popularity and are in demand among amateur gardeners of our country.

Planting and Care Rules

Apple trees of this variety are characterized by reaching a peak of productivity at the age of ten or fifteen years. Conducting proper and competent care can preserve the fruiting of the plant up to forty years. Very often used the technique of anti-aging pruning, which helps to brighten the crown and increase productivity.

When purchasing planting material of this variety in the form of seedlings, it is very important to pay special attention to the trunk and root system of the plant. It is not recommended to purchase seedlings in which the root neck is poorly distinguishable or there is a curvature of the stem.

Important purchase a seedling with a powerful root system. If you purchased a two-year-old seedling, then shortening the planting material should be performed to a height of eighty centimeters. If there is a short root system, shortening is performed below the mark of forty centimeters.

Proper shortening helps to awaken the leaves and prevent the depletion of the stem bark. If you do not trim the crown, then the foliage will absorb all the nutrients. Formation of the root system contributes to the watering of seedlings using a solution "Kornevin" or "Heteroauxin."

For landing, you need to choose a site with the presence of high-quality drainage. Planting is carried out in the planting holes, into which the root system of the plant is processed, treated with a special talker. After the location in the pit, the root system should be covered with high-quality soil. A layer of soil is important to shed abundantly, which will allow you to properly compact the soil.

It is recommended to add garden compost when planting seedlings. This is an important procedure, since fruit trees at the stage of growth and development need fertile soil with a large amount of nutrients.

In order for the plant to form in an upright position, a reliable, but accurate fastening of the seedling to the peg should be performed.

The main ripening period for Aport apples begins in the first autumn month. Observance of all storage rules, including the optimal temperature and the necessary humidity parameters in the room, allows the fruit to remain juicy until the New Year holidays. A longer preservation of the crop is noted by re-ripening of the fruit: the flesh becomes more crumbly, and the taste is worsened.
